Update: Three NTCC students named Jack Kent Cooke semifinalists

ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ learned last week that three sophomore students have been named semifinalists for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. Ryan-Rose Mendoza, Melody Mott and Bailey Hall, all of Mount Pleasant, are among those who will move into the final stages of the highly-competitive competition.

Their applications were among more than 2,800 submitted by students across the nation. Only 20% of applicants made it to semifinalist status.

Honors Northeast commentary aired on NPR

Might Bill and Hillary Clinton have something to learn from . . . former Texas governors, Ma and Pa Ferguson? This question drove Austin KUT radio reporter, Joy Diaz to the Honors Northeast film bank, and then to a commentary that was broadcast across Texas by affiliated National Public Radio stations on September 27.

NTCC Honors Director, Dr. Andrew Yox wrote and aired the commentary.† He noted that the political couples have many similarities.

Honors Northeast recognizes Drs. Jim and Paula Archer for their support

For the 10th straight year, Doctors Jim and Paula Archer hosted the annual Fall Roundup for Honors Northeast. Honors students, professors, and administrators of ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½â€ gathered at the Archer?s Lone Star Cattle Company Ranch September 10 for the event. Dr. Andrew Yox, Honors Director (pictured right) presented the couple with a plaque commemorating some of the scenes of their interactions with students.

Dr. Jim Archer is a Professor Emeritus at NTCC, having served as chemistry professor for 25 years.

Honors Northeast welcomes 2016-2017 scholars

The ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Honors Program is pleased to announce its Honors Students for the 2016-2017 school year. This includes†10†Presidential Scholars and†15†Honors Scholars.

Honors Northeast†was founded in the spring of 2007. Geared to attract top high school graduates and college students, the program has prospered thanks to a network of loyal supporters both in and out of the college. Each year, NTCC honors students have attended and presented research at the Great Plains Honors Council and the National Collegiate Honors Council.
