�ǿմ�ý students and co-founders of the TAFE Chapter, Monserrat Rivero and Ruby Ferretiz, were surprised by Professor Jim Ward with a shopping spree to collect supplies for their TAFE community service project.

A long-awaited “COVID” edition of the journal, Touchstone has appeared this fall.  The Texas State Historical Association (TSHA) has published this collegiate journal since 1982. It is one of the longest-running scholarly publications for undergraduate authors in the United States.

The �ǿմ�ý Foundation is pleased to announce that seven NTCC employees have been awarded funds through the 2022 Whatley Employee Enhancement Grant. The Foundation received 13 outstanding applications. A total of $12,260 was awarded through the grant. 

For over ten years in the “BioTex” seminar at NTCC, honors students have experienced a November “email shootout.” This is something like a cross between an ongoing basketball game with scores changing in real time, and a fast-paced, scholarly-poetic thinkathon.

The �ǿմ�ý Foundation recently received a $42,039.06 donation from the estate of Earl Christian Williamson. Nita May (left), Director of Development, and Dr. Jonathan McCullough, Executive Vice President for Advancement, are pictured receiving the check. Williamson was a computer science faculty member at NTCC from 1988 to 1998.

The �ǿմ�ý Continuing Education Department is now accepting applications for the 2023 Firefighter Academy. Classes begin January 17th, 2023 and will be held at the Mount Pleasant Central Fire Station. The program meets on evenings during the week and on alternating Saturdays. 

�ǿմ�ý will host its December 2022 Commencement Ceremony on Friday, Dec. 9th at 7 p.m. in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Seating is limited, so only guests who have tickets will be admitted into the auditorium. Graduation will be streamed live on  and  for those who are unable to attend in person. 

Be on the lookout for members of the NTCC Eagles Baseball and Softball teams if you happen to be out shopping in Mount Pleasant today (Friday, Dec. 2nd). Players will be ringing bells for the Salvation Army from 9 a.m. until the evening at Wal Mart, Super One and Mount Pleasant Brookshire's. We are proud of our student athletes for their commitment to serving the community!

As a member of NTCC’s first Presidential-Scholar cohort in 2007, Ann Finch persevered with a topic on the Paleolithic Indians of Texas. The evidence was thin, and she had to surmise scenarios at every turn.  And yet her effort culminated into an exercise on thesis maintenance that has been employed as an exercise in honors Texas history every year since.
