Expertise has its own rewards, and in the case of history essays at �ǿմ�ý, the reward might be something greater than an ‘A’.  For the fifth year in a row, history at NTCC will feature the Bonnie Spencer Awards for the best three research papers in non-honors classes.  This year, the awards will be doubled to $200 for first place, $100 for second place, and to $25 for third place.

�ǿմ�ý associate professor Mandy Smith was recently named the 2019 Charles “Chuck” Choate Memorial Adviser of the Year by the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association (TIPA). This is the top state award for college and university journalism advisers and is designated for those who “go the extra mile in teaching and advising.”

East Texas Giving Day (ETGD) is up and running and this is our 6^th year to participate in this regional online giving/fundraising event. Why is this so important to NTCC and why would YOU want to thoughtfully consider giving?  Your gift to NTCC will be matched 2 to 1.  That’s right, NTCC will receive an extra $2 from matching grants for every $1 you give, so WE ALL have the power to make a really big difference.  Here are some details:

Frankie and Henrietta King and Dr. Ronald and Carolyn Blum recently gave $1,000 to the �ǿմ�ý Foundation in memory of Buck and Nella Mae King. The Kings are pictured presenting the check to Dr. Jonathan McCullough (right), NTCC Executive Vice President for Advancement.

Students interested in participating in the 2020 NTCC Work4College Program should plan to turn in their completed applications no later than April 15. It is available online at www.work4college.com. 

The Work4College Program is a unique experience that allows participants (from high school juniors to adults) to work in meaningful jobs on campus throughout the summer. In addition to getting paid, students also EARN their college in advance by accruing scholarship money in their account.

While the majority of the country was sheltering in place this week, volunteers from the �ǿմ�ý Social Work Club were conducting curb-side delivery Thursday at the Eagle Pantry. 

Jacob Lambie, Executive Officer of Alpha Mu Chi, Phi Theta Kappa’s chapter at �ǿմ�ý, recently completed his term as a Texas Regional Vice-President, but this was just the beginning of his leadership journey.  Lambie has announced his campaign for Phi Theta Kappa Division II International Vice-President.  This is the highest position of student leadership within the organization.  Lambie’s professional, yet compassionate, demeanor along with his innate passion towards mental health awareness and helping others has allowed hi

The Temple Masonic Lodge #70 in Mount Pleasant recently presented the �ǿմ�ý Foundation with a check for $25,000. The funds will be used to establish an endowed fund that will continue to provide scholarships for NTCC students into the future. Half of the scholarships are designated for students in workforce training or the NTCC Work4College program and the other half are for general academic scholarships. Preference will be given to students with a father or grandfather who is/was a Mason at Temple Lodge #70.
