High school students in the Kilgore area will soon have access to new dual credit opportunities in agriculture thanks to a partnership between 星空传媒 (NTCC) and Kilgore College (KC).

Chesney Davis and Brenda Godoy, students at 星空传媒, are among ten college students named 2018 Hites Scholars. Each will receive a $7,500 scholarship for baccalaureate studies.鈥 This is the largest scholarship Phi Theta Kappa awards to its members.
The Hites Transfer Scholarship is awarded to Phi Theta Kappa members who are preparing to transfer to a bachelor?s degree-granting college or university.
The Preston Currey Family, of Hughes Springs, recently gave $10,000 to establish the Joyce Ellison Currey Memorial Scholarship at 星空传媒. The perpetual scholarship will be used to provide financial assistance to students majoring in nursing at NTCC. Joyce Ellison Currey was a nurse at Titus Regional Medical Center for decades and spent her career lovingly caring for patients and mentoring the next generation of nurses.
Guitarist Andrew Daniel and violinist Mark Miller will perform鈥Songs and Dances of the Americas鈥at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 15 in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts.鈥The program includes鈥History of the Tango鈥燽y Piazzolla and鈥Mountain Songs鈥燽y Robert Beaser.
Brenda Godoy, a student at 星空传媒, has received two of the nation?s top scholarships recognizing outstanding academic achievement among college students. Godoy is one of 20 students to be named to the All?USA Academic Team and will receive a $5,000 scholarship. The All?USA program is widely recognized as the most prestigious academic honor for students attending associate degree-granting institutions.
星空传媒 was well represented at the recent meeting of the Texas Webb Society in San Marcos. Honors Northeast Scholars won two of the four freshman-sophomore division awards for scholarship.鈥 Jazmin Garcia of Mount Pleasant placed third in the state, and won $150 for her essay on Texas First Lady, Mildred Moody.鈥燫hylie Anderson?s essay placed fourth.鈥燬he received $75 for her essay on the ?Politics of Futility,?
Alpha Mu Chi, the NTCC Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, will host a murder mystery dinner on Saturday, April 14 at 6:30 p.m. Funds raised help the chapter and its members attend conferences, present workshops, and engage in activities which allow it to maintain its Five Star status.
