Alpha Mu Chi (AMC), NTCC's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), recently attended the Texas Regional Convention. The event honors PTK chapters and even individual members.

Helen Hampton sponsors Pinkalicious
Helen Hampton (center) sponsored the April 3 performance of the popular children?s musical ?Pinkalicious" at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½. She is pictured with cast members at the VIP Tea Party with Pink held after the show. ?Pinkalicious" marked the end of the Whatley Center?s 2015-2016 season. The lineup for next year?s shows will be announced this summer.

Jessica Velazquez published in TSHS journal
ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Presidential Scholar, Jessica Velazquez, was recently published in the 2016 issue of a statewide academic journal.†Touchstone, the annual publication of the Texas State Historical Society, chose Velazquez?s essay†?Farm Life in Transition? as one of the collegiate articles featured this year.
Her essay surveys agriculture in five counties in Texas from 1930 to 1960: Brazoria, Denton, Hidalgo, Lubbock, and Titus.†Even with each county representing a different section of Texas agriculture, Velazquez found some important similarities.

Student Art exhibit planned
The ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Art Department will hold its annual student art show April 13-27 in the foyer gallery of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The exhibit will feature student work in photography, painting, ceramics, digital artwork, drawing and design. An artist reception will be held Tuesday, April 19 in the Whatley Center foyer at 2 p.m. The exhibit is open to the public Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. Please call 903-434-8181 to ensure the gallery is open before visiting.

Elizabeth H. Whatley leaves behind lasting legacy at NTCC
ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ lost a long time friend this week as Mrs. Elizabeth H. Whatley passed away at the age of 89. Services for Mrs. Whatley will be held Saturday, April 9 at 10:30 a.m. in Longview at the mausoleum at Rosewood Park.

NTCC calls for entries in poster contest
The ninth annual McGraw-Hill Poster Contest is set for Friday, April 29 at 9:30 a.m. in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½. This contest recognizes and rewards creative student scholarship in Northeast Texas. Area high school seniors, college and university students are welcome to compete. The first place prize is $400 with an added McGraw-Hill textbook coupon for $150. Second place will receive $300, third place $200 and fourth $100.
