Police academies begin Jan. 19

The Northeast Police Academy at Ðǿմ«Ã½ is now accepting applications for its upcoming police academies. Both the Fast-Track day and evening academy programs will begin classes January 19.


The evening academy, which is for continuing education credit only, meets from 5-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and every first and third Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

BT building closed Dec. 14-17 for training

During the week of December 14-17, the Northeast Police Academy will be hosting an Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) course. †This will require the use of the entire Business Technology Building for both the lecture and tactical experience. †Therefore, the BT building will be unavailable to the general public.

Whatley Employee Enhancement Award winners announced

The Ðǿմ«Ã½ Foundation announced the winners of the 2015-2016†Whatley Employment Enhancement Awards this week. Five†out of 21 proposals were chosen for funding. Winning employees and projects included:

NTCC Foundation receives Irvin Gage Memorial Scholarship fund

† † † Representatives for the Irvin Gage Memorial Scholarship recently announced that the administration of the scholarship fund will now be managed by the Ðǿմ«Ã½ Foundation. Each year since the fund was established in 1986, the scholarship has provided assistance to one or two deserving agriculture students from Mount Pleasant High School and it will continue to do so indefinitely into the future.

The Hit Men to perform holiday show

The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts will feature The Hit Men,†former stars of Frankie Valli & The 4 Seasons, for their Tis The Seasons holiday show.† The event is scheduled for†Monday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m.

The Hit Men are a real rock and roll legacy performers, not the actors from the Broadway shows, but the former stars of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, who toured the world with Frankie back in the day and are now on their wildly successful Reunion Tour across the U.S.

NTCC alumni using his degree for good in Mount Pleasant

Chaz Curtis is keeping a promise to his college professors. He's taking what he learned at Ðǿմ«Ã½ and successfully applying it to the business world.

The NTCC alumnus is the office manager at Super 1 Foods and is on track to become a funeral director in Mount Pleasant. Curtis earned an associate's degree in Business Administration in 2012 and went on to earn his bachelor's degree on the same campus through NTCC's partnership with Texas A&M Texarkana.
