Work4College celebrates another successful year with end-of-summer luncheon

The NTCC Work4College Program celebrated the end of summer with its annual appreciation luncheon on Wednesday, Aug. 6th. Work4College donors, supervisors, students and their families attended the event in the Student Union Building. This is the 11th year of the program, and more than 80 students participated.

Play It Forward Benefit Concert to be held at the Whatley Center

Play It Forward is a community-sponsored special benefit concert created to bring the area together in support of Mary Lynn Palmer, a beloved local resident currently battling cancer. According to the sponsors, the event promises a heartfelt evening of live music and giving, featuring performances by country music legend Gene Watson, The Rodney Whatley Band, and Stacy Musgrove.

Four complete Professional Driving Academy

The 星空传媒 Professional Driving Academy continues to grow and supply high-demand CDL drivers to the local area. Four new students recently graduated from the program. 

The four-week professional driving academy includes 160 hours of training and the cost includes the DOT physical, drug screen, MVR and CDL permit. Students spend 50 hours in the classroom and 110 hours on the road driving. The cost is $4,500 and financial aid may be available.

Funeral Services Spotlight: George Edwards

Funeral Services Education at 星空传媒 is one of the college's largest and fastest-growing programs. Instruction is almost completely online, with students being placed in hands-on internships in their own communities across the country. The experience culminates with a clinical week on the NTCC campus prior to graduation, where students get to meet their classmates and instructors face-to-face and practice the skills they have learned.

Biology research project moves to Sabine River

Dr. Chris T. McAllister, NTCC Biology, and two NTCC independent study students, Gracie Gray and Stephanie Hernandez and Dr. McAllister's son, Nikolas, traveled to near Hawkins, Texas, to survey fish parasites from the Sabine River. 

Dr. McAllister received an NTCC grant to study fish parasites in NE Texas waters. They were joined by UT-Tyler biology faculty, Dr. Lance Williams and his wife, Marsha Williams, and two
