The �ǿմ�ý Foundation is pleased to announce that nine NTCC employees have been awarded funds through the 2021 Whatley Employee Enhancement Grant. The Foundation received 13 outstanding applications. Five were funded by the grant and four were funded by private donations.  The total for all funded projects totaled $12,600. 

The Whatley Employee Enhancement Grant was established by James & Elizabeth Whatley specifically to fund special projects and enhance educational opportunities that fall outside the institution’s regular budget.  Each year, NTCC full-time employees may apply for the approximately $8,500 available. Projects are reviewed and selected by the volunteer members of the Whatley Employee Enhancement Committee.

Moving into its ninth year of operation at NTCC, Work4College is a scholarship program designed to give students the opportunity to work during the summer to earn money for college. While doing meaningful work on campus and learning important life skills, students are able to earn a paycheck and save for future classes at NTCC. More than 80 students participated in 2021 and the college hopes to have close to 100 spots available in 2022.

For ten years in the “BioTex” seminar at NTCC, honors students have experienced a November “email shootout.” This is something like a cross between an ongoing basketball game with scores changing in real time, and a fast-paced, scholarly-poetic thinkathon.  The course challenges students to conceptualize the elements of their Texas history research essays, to utilize crossover “analogs, (terms)” particularly from biology, and to provide terse definitions of their newly minted concepts. 

The Carroll Shelby Automotive Program at �ǿմ�ý added two “new” Mustangs to its stable this week. On Monday they took delivery of a pair of 1968 Shelbys donated by Barry Smith of  in Blair County, Pennsylvania. Though both the same model year and convertibles, one is a (white) and the other a (black).

Are you a working EMT interested in becoming a certified Paramedic? �ǿմ�ý is offering a convenient hybrid shift-based Paramedic Course (DSHS # 617988).

“There is a serious shortage of paramedics in our area and NTCC is hoping to help fill that gap. We know it is difficult for practicing EMTs to continue their education due to shift work schedules. This program is designed specifically with them in mind,” Russell VanBibber, NTCC EMS Faculty, said.  

Everyone deserves a chance to get a college education.  �ǿմ�ý feels so strongly about this that they are offering the First Class On Us scholarship to any new student who wants to take a class in the Spring 2022 semester. 

This offer for one free credit class is available to anyone who lives in Camp, Morris or Titus county who has never taken a course at NTCC. It’s that simple. 

�ǿմ�ý revived the print edition of its schedule for the Spring 2022 semester. The publication was recently mailed to all households in Camp, Morris and Titus counties. If you haven't received yours yet or don't live in the district, please check it out at the link below.

The NTCC Theatre Program will present A 1940s Christmas Carol, written and directed by Page Petrucka, December 2-4. The play will be performed at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Show time is 7:30 p.m. each night with an additional Saturday matinee on December 4 at 2:30 pm. 

�ǿմ�ý will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 24-26 for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Offices will be open regular business hours on Monday and Tuesday, so that is a great time to stop by to register for classes.
